Solons Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Marshall
Sacramento right fielder Max Marshall had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Marshall hit 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice, even as Los Angeles beat the Solons, 14-8. The Coast League-leading Angels have a record of 38-25.

Joplin, Missouri-born Marvin Barker came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Angels trailing 8-7, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Los Angeles on top.

"We'll savor this win," Barker told the Los Angeles Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
