Sacramento Solons starter Willie Cornelius was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Seattle Rainiers, 5-3. Cornelius went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-0. At 27-34, the Solons claim 7th place in the Coast League.
In the bottom of the third, Larry Barton hit a 2-run double. The 16th double of the season for the Sacramento first baseman put the Solons on top, 3-2.
