The Oakland Oaks defeated the Sacramento Solons, 4-3, at Moreing Park. Oakland first baseman Gene Handley had a superb performance. He went 4 for 4 with a triple and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Monte Pearson, now 1-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Oakland has 3 straight wins, Sacramento 3 straight losses.

Ernie Lombardi, the 33-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Lombardi contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Oakland up, 4-3.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Sacramento skipper Kurt Peterson.
