Solons Lose to Seals, 4-2
|
The San Francisco Seals racked up a win at Moreing Park, bumping off the Sacramento Solons, 4-2. Larry Jansen, who started for San Francisco, pitched effectively for his team. Jansen, now 4-1, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. With the victory, the Seals upped their record to 24-19.
In the bottom of the ninth, Joe Cronin stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Solons were trailing 4-2, but had the bases loaded. That's when Win Ballou made a terrific pitch and Cronin flied out. Gone was the dream of a Sacramento comeback.
