Solons Take Nail-Biter Over Seals
|
Josh Gibson helped his team muscle past the San Francisco Seals, 5-4. In the game, the Sacramento catcher was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and 3 walks. Sacramento pitcher Les Webber got the win. He's now 2-2. Hub Kittle was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts Sacramento at 21-20 for the season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the 12th, an error by the Seals allowed the Solons to score the winning run.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Averill said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
