Sacramento Solons starter Hilton Smith turned in a workmanlike performance against the San Francisco Seals at Moreing Park. With the win, Sacramento raised its record to 20-20.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the 14th, with Sacramento trailing 5-4, Eddie Lake hit a fastball from Win Ballou for a 2-run home run, giving the Solons the walk-off win.

"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Kurt Peterson, the Sacramento manager.
