San Francisco beat Sacramento on the strength of starter Sam Thompson's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Phil Page earned save number 5 this season. The loss puts Sacramento at 16-13.

In the bottom of the first, Tony Lazzeri hit a 2-run double. The 7th double of the season for the San Francisco second baseman put the Seals on top, 2-0.

"It was a solid team effort," Thompson said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
