The Sacramento Solons topped the San Diego Padres, 9-8, at Lane Field. Sacramento first baseman Larry Barton banged out 4 singles and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Sacramento reliever Willie Cornelius picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Porter Moss shouldered the loss. The loss drops the Padres to 2-4.

Sacramento took a 9-8 lead on Max Marshall's 3rd triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Marshall hit in the top of the 11th, left San Diego pitcher Porter Moss shaking his head.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Barton told the Sacramento Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
