Bremer Shuts Out Phillies, 1-0
|
The Philadelphia Phillies manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Phillies were overpowered by Brooklyn starter Eugene Bremer, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said.
Over 9 innings, Bremer blanked Philadelphia on 7 hits with no walks and 3 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Bremer said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
Season-to-date Bremer has rung up 11 wins and 16 losses in 32 appearances. He has an ERA of 3.50 and has fanned 80 batters in 239.1 innings.
