Almost There: Los Angeles On Cusp of PCL Championship Series Triumph After 3-2 Win
The Los Angeles Angels moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the San Francisco Seals on the road at Seals Stadium by a score of 3-2. Angels right-hander Satchel Paige had a strong outing. He threw 9 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Angels a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Nyquist Trophy Series.

Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Joe Greene to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Angels on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We've got a great group of guys," Paige said, "and we're having fun right now."

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow in San Francisco. The scheduled starters for the game are Jesse Flores for Los Angeles and Lefty Gomez for San Francisco.
