Angels Hammered by Brown, Drop Game 1 to Oaks
With left fielder Willard Brown leading the charge, the Oakland Oaks got a road win over the Los Angeles Angels, 10-8, in Game 1 of the Nyquist Trophy Series today. Brown was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice at Wrigley Field to help Oakland take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.

Brown had a consequential at-bat in the top of the third for the Oaks. Coming up with a runner on 1st and Oakland trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run home run.

"We got the victory," said Brown. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in Los Angeles. The scheduled starters for the game are George Darrow for the Oakland Oaks and Ralph Buxton for the the Los Angeles Angels.
