Nyquist Trophy Series Game 1 Victory for Gomez and San Francisco
The San Francisco Seals powered past the visiting Los Angeles Angels, 3-2, in the opener of the Nyquist Trophy Series at Seals Stadium today. San Francisco starting pitcher Lefty Gomez threw 9 innings of 7-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Seals now lead the series 1-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, San Francisco first baseman Les Powers had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Powers stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 2-0, San Francisco. For the game, he was 1-4, while adding 2 RBI.

"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Seals," said Powers.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Jack Salveson for the Los Angeles Angels and Sam Gibson for the the San Francisco Seals.
