Pivotal Game Goes to Host
Athletics, 2-0 |
Johnny
Marcum carried the Philadelphia
Athletics to the verge of a World Series
Championship today.
The Philadelphia
right-hander threw a complete game shutout against
the suddenly-cold Seattle
Rainiers, striking out 6 along the way. The
Athletics will be looking to clinch the next time
the teams meet. With the 2-0 win, Philadelphia now
leads 3-0 in the best-of-7 series.
Marcum threw 118 pitches over 9 innings, while
allowing no earned runs.
"I'll be honest," said Marcum. "I was running on
fumes at the end."
Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday, October 20th, 1935
at Civic Field in Seattle. Slated to start are Bill
Walker for Philadelphia and Paul
Gregory for Seattle.
