Storybook Season For New York, Major League Baseball Champs
The creme de la creme of Major League Baseball baseball are the New York Giants. The team just put away the Los Angeles Angels 8-7 to capture the World Series, 4 games to 1. Speaking with reporters after the victory, Giants manager Bill Terry extolled his team, "It was pure bliss this season. From day one they put their hearts and souls into this team. When you have talented players and they work hard and play together, it doesn't take much to manage them. All I did was make the lineup card and let 'em play." During the National League regular season, the Giants posted a record of 97-57, following up their pennant-winning performance with an Eastern Championship Series victory over Philadelphia.
