New York Wins it All
|
With a 7-3 win over the Philadelphia
Athletics tonight at Shibe Park, the New
York Giants wrapped up their 9th title in team
history.
New York left little doubt who was the better club. "Team"
was the word of the day as the Giants celebrated the
culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse
following the game.
"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need
to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that
works together toward the same collective goal," said New
York manager . "Our players felt that way all year and they
played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others
stepped up their game and filled the void."
A jovial mood filled the air as New York celebrated into the
night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and
a "huge celebration" in the works.
"We're going to celebrate our team, our championship New
York Giants," he said.
The champions completed the regular season with a
first-place finish in the National League and a 97-57
record. |
