Facing the prospect of going down 2-0, the Los Angeles Angels were looking for a savior. For today, at least, Win Ballou delivered.

At the Polo Grounds, the 36-year old pitched a game for the ages to fend off the New York Giants and help the Angels erase their deficit in the World Series. Ballou threw a 9-inning, complete-game shutout in the 7-0 Los Angeles win, striking out 0 and allowing 2 hits.

"Things aren't going great right now," New York manager Bill Terry said. "But you don't need me to tell you that."

Game 3 is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Lynn Nelson for the Los Angeles Angels and Bill Hallahan for the the New York Giants.
