Seals, Solons Play 11 to Settle Game 2, San Francisco Now Leads Series 2-0
A big day at the plate from third baseman Frenchy Bordagaray was not enough to keep the San Francisco Seals from extending their lead in the Nyquist Trophy Series. The Seals topped Bordagaray and the Sacramento Solons 7-6 at Moreing Park today in Game 2, and now hold a 2-0 edge in the best-of-7 series. Bordagaray went 4-6 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and was named player of the game in the loss.

Ernie Sulik's hit in the top of the 11th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Eddie Bryan for a run-scoring single. It put San Francisco in front, 5-4.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Mark Velez.

Game 3 is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Tony Freitas for Sacramento and Sam Gibson for San Francisco.
