Philadelphia Takes Opener
Game One of the World Series went into extra innings at Shibe Park, with the Philadelphia Athletics eventually emerging on top. Philadelphia has Mickey Cochrane to thank, after the catcher went 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs in the 6-5 victory.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Philadelphia second baseman Max Bishop, facing Don Osborn, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Athletics the 6-5 win.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Philadelphia manager told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Fay Thomas for the Sacramento Solons and Syl Johnson for the the Philadelphia Athletics.
