Portland Tops Sacramento 4-0, Claim 2-1 Series Lead
The Portland Beavers got an exceptional performance from starter Ted Trent, who silenced the Sacramento offense en route to a 4-0 shutout win in Game 3 of the Nyquist Trophy Series today. The Solons could never get a bead on the right-handed Trent, who threw 9 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Beavers now hold a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

Trent allowed no earned runs on 6 hits over 9 innings for the Beavers. He walked 3 and struck out 2.

"I felt good even in the late innings," said Trent after the game.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Moreing Park in Sacramento. The scheduled starters for the game are Hank McDonald for Portland and Tony Freitas for Sacramento.
