Angels Ace Paige Cops Fuller Brush Pitcher of the Year Award Thursday, October 22nd, 1931 The Los Angeles Angels have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Satchel Paige, this year's Pacific Coast League Fuller Brush Pitcher of the Year Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Paige compiled a 19-8 record in 28 starts, tallied 223 strikeouts in 258 innings and recorded a 1.22 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .181 batting average against him. Willie Foster of the Sacramento Solons finished second in voting, while Tony Freitas of the Sacramento Solons finished third. |
