Ike Boone Wins 1931 PCL Batting Title Tuesday, September 29th, 1931 At an age when many of his peers are slowing down or even retiring, Ike Boone of the Oakland Oaks is perhaps at his best. The 35-year-old wore out opposing pitchers for a .347 average this season, to capture the 1931 Pacific Coast League batting championship. The batting star collected 193 hits, 28 doubles, 7 triples and 11 home runs for the year. In 151 games Boone totaled 99 RBIs and scored 96 runs. |
