Tuesday, September 29th, 1931
At an age when many of his peers are slowing down or even retiring, Ike Boone of the Oakland Oaks is perhaps at his best.

The 35-year-old wore out opposing pitchers for a .347 average this season, to capture the 1931 Pacific Coast League batting championship.

The batting star collected 193 hits, 28 doubles, 7 triples and 11 home runs for the year. In 151 games Boone totaled 99 RBIs and scored 96 runs.
