PCL Awards Best Batter Prize to Stearnes Monday, September 21st, 1931 His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Turkey Stearnes was rewarded with the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week honors. The scrappy Los Angeles Angels right fielder hit .588 while collecting 10 hits in 17 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs. In the current season, Stearnes has put up a .330 batting average with 195 hits, 26 home runs, 108 runs batted in and scored 101 runs. |
