Coleman Socks it to Angels, Cracks 5 Hits
Tuesday, May 5th, 1931
All game long, Portland's Ed Coleman was rattling the walls at Wrigley Field L.A. and banging out base hits against the Los Angeles Angels. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Beavers had a 4-3 victory.

Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 29-year-old left fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."

Ed Coleman tripled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 12th and flied out in the 13th.

So far this season Coleman has put up a .313 batting average with 26 hits, 2 home runs and 10 RBIs.
