Hit #2000 for Stars Beckwith Saturday, September 27th, 1930 What a day for John Beckwith. The 30-year-old Hollywood third baseman reached the 2000-hit mark today and the Stars whipped the Los Angeles Angels 9-4. Beckwith told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 2000, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball." He went 2 for 4 in the game to reach the milestone.
