The 20-game hitting streak of Earl Averill has come to an end. The Hollywood Stars left fielder went 0-for-4 today in his team's 8-3 loss to the Oakland Oaks at Oaks Park.

"It's not just Earl who came up short today," Stars manager Martin Abresch said in his postgame press conference. "This was a team loss."

In his season totals, Averill has 43 home runs, .362 BA, .439 OBP, 152 RBIs and 138 runs scored. He has played in 132 games.
