Wally Berger of the Los Angeles Angels proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Pacific Coast League Player of the Year Award.

Berger hit for a .348 average while collecting 211 hits, 31 doubles, 7 triples, 58 home runs, 179 RBIs and scoring 126 times.

Turkey Stearnes of the Los Angeles Angels finished second in voting, while Earl Averill of the Hollywood Stars finished third.
