Big Month for PCL Rookie
Saturday, September 1st, 1928
Satchel Paige takes the hill with uncharacteristic poise for a man of so few years. Paige is just a lad, but he strung together some solid starts last month to win the Pacific Coast League Rookie of the Month crown.
In August he held opponents to a .195 average as he struck out 41 in 58 innings. In 6 starts he nailed down 6 wins, suffered 1 loss and compiled a 0.93 ERA.
In 27 starts this season Paige has rung up a 25-3 record and a 1.40 ERA.
