August's Best PCL Hurler is Paige Saturday, September 1st, 1928 Over the past month Satchel Paige has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Pacific Coast League. He proved all that and now he's been named August's Pitcher of the Month. The rookie for the Los Angeles Angels posted 6-1 mark and a 0.93 ERA. In 6 starts he tossed 58 innings, permitted 41 hits and fanned 41 batters. In 27 starts this year Paige has recorded a 25-3 record and a 1.40 ERA. |
