Duncan on Fire, 5-for-5 Against Mission
Sunday, August 19th, 1928
After his 5-hit effort at Recreation Park was tarnished by Sacramento's 11-10 loss to the Mission Bells, catcher Frank Duncan told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."

He didn't get the win, but the 27-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Bells.

"His swing is getting there," said Solons skipper Kurt Peterson after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Frank did that to perfection today and we wasted it."

Frank Duncan doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Luther Farrell in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Thus far this year Duncan is hitting .271 with 2 home runs, 27 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
