Oaks Shut Out by Winters
Monday, July 30th, 1928
Nip Winters of the Hollywood Stars humiliated the Oakland Oaks at Wrigley Field L.A. today, spinning a complete game shutout and holding the visitors to 4 hits.

"He stayed aggressive and his ball was really moving," said Oakland manager Carl Zamloch, after the game.

Winters whiffed 3 and walked 1 in the 5-0 win.

"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Winters said. "I was making good pitches the entire game."

Winters has a 16-6 season record so far. In 20 starts, he has fanned 79 batters in 181.2 innings with a 2.03 ERA.
