Pool Strokes 5 Hits
Friday, September 29th, 1939
Harlin Pool of the San Francisco Seals had a big day with the bat at Seals Stadium today as he bashed out hit after hit after hit against the Los Angeles Angels. Nevertheless, his big day at the plate couldn't secure the win for the Seals, who fell 8-7.

"Guys, it's just one game in a long season -- I hit it hard and found some holes today, and bingo, 5 hits in 5 at-bats," a visibly unhappy Pool said later. "They don't really mean anything at this point."

At the end of the day, Pool had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book, but it was the final score that was on his mind. Harlin Pool singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 9th and walked in the 11th.

Presently Pool is batting .350 with 1 home run and 31 RBIs. He has played in 70 games and scored 33 times.
