Hot Bat Cooled, Williams Hitless Against Rainiers
Monday, August 14th, 1939
The hitting streak that San Diego left fielder Ted Williams had kept going for 22 games was ended today by the Seattle Rainiers. Williams was stymied over 2 at-bats today, but the rest of his team picked him up, taking the 2-1 victory at Lane Field.

"Hitting streaks come and go," Williams said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."

This season Williams has hit at a .362 clip with 80 RBIs, 23 home runs and 98 runs scored.
