Lazzeri Blisters Hollywood Monday, August 14th, 1939 It seemed that Portland second baseman Tony Lazzeri could do no wrong as the Beavers KO'd the Stars, 6-4 today. Lazzeri rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Stars hurlers were throwing. "I think the Beavers were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Hollywood fan after the game. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Lazzeri in the postgame press interview. Tony Lazzeri doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
