San Francisco Seals Ship Wilkie to Seattle Monday, July 31st, 1939 It took some time to iron out the details, but the Seals and Rainiers have agreed to a swap. Seattle will get 24-year-old LHP Lefty Wilkie with San Francisco receiving 36-year-old LHP Bill Walker in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal. This year Wilkie has 4 saves in 23 relief appearances with a 4-3 record and 3.20 ERA. This season Walker has compiled a 5-6 record with a 4.07 ERA in 12 starts. |
