Muncrief Breezes to Shutout Victory Monday, May 1st, 1939 The Los Angeles Angels ran into a buzzsaw at Gilmore Field today as Hollywood Stars starter Bob Muncrief cut them down to size, 1-0, tossing a 3-hit shutout. "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," Stars manager Mike Heath told reporters after the game. "Bob knows exactly what he's doing.
