Seattle Stops Doerr's Hit Streak
Wednesday, September 14th, 1938
After 31 games, Bobby Doerr had his hitting streak ended abruptly today by the Seattle Rainiers at Lane Field. The San Diego Padres second baseman failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats, bringing his tenure in the national spotlight to a halt.

Despite the tough day at the plate, Doerr seemed unconcerned after the game, talking instead about the Padres taking a 4-3 victory from the Rainiers.

"It was good while it lasted," Doerr said. "If it had to end, I'm glad it ended with a victory."

Doerr has a .324 average and a .368 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 200 hits, 13 home runs and driven in 101 runs.
