Tiant Hurls Oakland to Shutout Win Sunday, July 24th, 1938 The Oakland Oaks posted a 3-0 shutout over the Seattle Rainiers today on the strength of a strong performance by Luis Tiant. The Oaks pitcher held the Rainiers to 2 hits while walking 0 and fanning 7 in the route-going win. "It feels good to be wearing a Oakland Oaks uniform today," the left-hander said following the game.
