Thursday, July 14th, 1938
The Portland Beavers fell to the Seattle Rainiers in Vaughn Street Park today, even as 34-year-old first baseman Bill Joseph Sweeney upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games. Sweeney finished with 1 hit in 4 at-bats, but could not stop the Beavers from dropping the 8-3 decision.

"Yeah, I kept my streak going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Sweeney.
Bill Joseph Sweeney flied out in the 2nd, flied out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

This year Sweeney has 2 home runs and a .281 batting average.
