Best Pitcher Picked by Pacific Coast League Friday, October 1st, 1937 Satchel Paige's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 6-1 in September, the 31-year-old Los Angeles hurler has been named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 53 in 62 innings, logged an ERA of 2.47 and allowed opponents to hit .224 against him. To date this year in 35 starts, Paige has crafted a 21-11 mark with a 1.75 ERA. |
