Pacific Coast League Selects September's Best Batter
Friday, October 1st, 1937
To survive in the bigs, you've got to be a scrapper like Turkey Stearnes. It never pays to take a day off from the batting cages or to shrug off the advice of the hitting coach. It all paid off today as Los Angeles's right fielder pinned down the Pacific Coast League Batter of the Month trophy today.

He hit .394 in September collecting 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and 33 runs scored.

This year Stearnes has hit at a .336 pace and produced 130 RBIs, 37 home runs and scored 120 runs.
