Gomez Sharp, Whitewashes Bells Tuesday, July 7th, 1936 Lefty Gomez had the Mission Bells dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 3-0 shutout performance for the San Francisco Seals. He gave up 6 hits, issued no walks and had 9 strikeouts. Mission hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery. "When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point," opposing manager Mike Heath said. "We just never figured him out."
