Tiant Tosses Shutout for Oakland Friday, July 3rd, 1936 Luis Tiant shut down the Sacramento Solons today, blanking them 1-0 on 4 hits, ringing up 7 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk. The Oakland Oaks pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on. "I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Tiant said after the game. "I feel like my mechanics were getting better.
