Great Stroke: DiMaggio Gets 5 Hits
Wednesday, June 10th, 1936
The San Diego Padres stopped the Oakland Oaks by a score of 16-4 at Lane Field today, with the lion's share of the credit going to center fielder Vince DiMaggio. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," DiMaggio said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

DiMaggio did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Oaks.

"Not much that I can say," offered Oakland manager Dan Whiting. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Vince DiMaggio singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

To date, DiMaggio has collected 69 hits for a .327 average. He has posted 7 home runs, scored 44 runs and driven in 41 runs.
