Marcum Tosses Shutout Against Seattle Tuesday, October 15th, 1935 Johnny Marcum of the Philadelphia Athletics overwhelmed the Seattle Rainiers and walked off the mound with a complete-game shutout. He blanked them 2-0 on 4 hits with a total of 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. "Johnny was on quite a roll," Philadelphia manager said. "He gets great late movement and he doesn't give in to the hitters."
