Philadelphia Blanks Seattle Behind Bell
Monday, October 14th, 1935
William Bell was in a mood to talk following the Philadelphia Athletics contest against the Seattle Rainiers, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Rainiers, 1-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Bell said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Seattle on a 6-hitter, allowing 3 walks and racking up 2 strikeouts.
For the year Bell has a 16-11 record with a 4.33 ERA in 31 starts.
