Rainiers Win 1935 Nyquist Trophy Series
Tuesday, October 8th, 1935
The Seattle Rainiers were good enough to get past the Mission Bells at Civic Field today and secure the 1st championship in franchise history.
"When you wear Rainiers on your shirt, you're good at something," Seattle skipper Jim Burns told the press.
Rainiers shortstop Willie Wells was named MVP of the series after he went .364 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI.
"It feels totally incredible," Wells said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment."
The new champions capped off a great season with a 7-4 victory over the Bells to win the Nyquist Trophy Series 4-2.
