Hollywood Shut Out by Salvo
Monday, July 1st, 1935
The Hollywood Stars had no answer today for Sacramento Solons pitcher Manny Salvo. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 1-0. Hollywood managed only 2 hits off Salvo, who had 3 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Salvo got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Solons fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

In 13 starts this season Salvo has fashioned a 7-5 record and a 4.33 ERA.
