Red-Hot Mailho Scorches Beavers Tuesday, July 31st, 1934 It was a high-five day for Emil Mailho, at least for a while. The Oakland right fielder got plenty of them from his teammates when he reached the five-hit milestone during today's game against the Portland Beavers, but they were in short supply at the end, as Portland took a 7-6 win. Mailho finished with an impressive 5-for-6 line, but the Oaks couldn't hold off the Beavers. "Emil was hitting everything," said Oaks manager Pete Grassi. "It's too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion." Emil Mailho doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and grounded out in the 10th.
