2000th Hit for Bell Saturday, July 15th, 1933 It was a day of mixed emotions for Mission center fielder Cool Papa Bell, who collected his 2000th hit in the club's 2-1 loss to Sacramento. Bells and Solons fans alike cheered Bell as he reached base after his milestone hit. "I wish the score had been different," Bell said after the game, "but it was a great moment. The standing ovation was really special... even the fans wearing Solons caps were cheering me." Bell was 2-for-5 on the day. Lifetime Bell is batting .325 and has totaled 89 home runs.
