Holland Shackles Hollywood
Saturday, August 6th, 1932
The Hollywood Stars had no answer today for Oakland Oaks pitcher Bill Holland. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 6-0. Hollywood managed only 5 hits off Holland, who had 4 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Holland got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Oaks fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

For the year Holland has a 14-9 record with a 3.98 ERA in 25 starts.
